Surreal Spread

A conceptual exploration of midcentury party culture through maximalist styling and saturated color. Creative direction & styling by me, transforming nostalgic party fare into a shimmering, disco-lit spectacle that lives somewhere between memory and fever dream.

Overview

This project reimagines midcentury entertaining through a surreal, maximalist lens. I wanted to take the forgotten glamour of vintage party spreads and push them into something dreamlike—familiar yet strange. The challenge was balancing period authenticity with contemporary excess: sourcing era-appropriate dishes while elevating them through unexpected color, iridescent textures, and dramatic lighting. Every element was meticulously styled to feel cohesive, from sculptural jello molds to precisely piped deviled eggs. The disco balls and streamers weren't just decoration—they transformed light and reflection into part of the story.
